Talisman Online is a little known free MMORPG that borrows heavily from World of Warcraft. Now this is not necessarily a bad thing, RPGs borrow from each other
frequently and with positive outcomes. The User Interface, looting, mini map, quest system, and even some world design elements are borrowed from WoW. All these features,
while unoriginal, work well and add to the game'€™s enjoyment. This is not to say Talisman brings nothing new to the table, it does.
In Talisman Online players
accumulate Talisman points as they hunt monsters which they can then use to upgrade equipment. This is a great feature that can be done from anywhere which lets you speed up
your hunting and customize your equipment from any location. When creating a character in Talisman Online, you are given five character classes choices: Wizard, Monk,
Assassin, Fairy, and Tamer. The first three classes are male and the last two are female: gender cannot be customized for each class. Each class is limited to three hair
styles and three face choices.
The game doesn't bother you with a tutorial but instead offers tips in the form of exclamation marks to the left of your screen
which you may read or ignore. The starting area is active with other players and full of NPCs ready to offer you quests. It is advisable to complete all the quests you are
given since they unlock newer quests which lead you to new locations. The quest log in Talisman Online is very well done, you can reference it to remind you of the quest
details, and even click on the coordinates provided to mark your map so the quest is easier to complete.
As you level, additional skills will become available as
well as mounts with can be summoned for increased movement speed. How long will Talisman keep your interest? Its hard to say, but it definitely ranks as one of the better free
to play fantasy MMORPGs out there. If you'€™re looking for the poor man'€™s WoW, here it is.
